The coatings used for anti-corrosion construction of oil tanks are flammable and explosive items. When the anti-corrosion coating is mixed with air to reach a certain proportion, it will explode once it encounters a fire source. We call the low explosive concentration as the lower explosive limit, and the high explosive concentration as the upper explosive limit. The concentration between the upper and lower limits can explode, and the wider the explosion range, the greater the risk. Generally, in order to ensure safety, the concentration of flammable coatings and vapors in the anti-corrosion construction of oil tanks should be controlled below 25% of the lower limit concentration.
The following is for everyone to introduce the causes of the explosion in the anti-corrosion construction of the oil tank.
1. Fire: It is the direct cause of mixed gas or dust explosion. Therefore, it is required to prohibit the use of open flames in the storage of anti-corrosion coatings and the construction site or workshop. When heating is necessary, heat carrier or induction heating should be used as much as possible, or fire should be used away from the site.
2. Impact sparks: Sparks generated by friction and impact at the oil tank anti-corrosion construction site are one of the causes of explosion. It is forbidden to knock metal objects and paint buckets with iron rods and other objects during construction. If it is necessary to knock, use wooden objects.
3. Electrical sparks: electrical equipment or wires overload will produce heat, and easily lead to fire. In the anti-corrosion coating storage warehouse and coating construction site or workshop, the use of lighting should be explosion-proof device; electrical equipment should use explosion-proof type, and regularly check the circuit and equipment insulation. In the use of solvent places, should prohibit the use of knife switch, but to use three-wire pin plug.
4. Electrostatic: In the process of anti-corrosion construction of oil tanks, static electricity will inevitably be generated due to various frictions. When the electrostatic charge is accumulated to a certain amount, the discharge phenomenon will occur, and sparks will be generated, causing fire or explosion. The equipment and electrical conductors used shall be well grounded to prevent static buildup.
